Anything But Ordinary

Once upon a time…
there was a nice innocent girl who studied Computer Science and Engineering at the GUC. She didn’t know what she was getting herself into she didn’t know what she would face…she only dreamt to be a graphics designer, make cartoons and work for and advertising agency. As her journey went through she discovered that her dream would not come true as they mislead her the day she applied that the major was a way for her dream bloom.
She said its okay I can find a new way maybe there may be something to make me stay. She found a new passion that she enjoyed so much a life in the Hardware world that she found challenging and fun. She took 2 digital design courses that she totally aced… she thought she was born for that she thought that was her aim. And as she was heading to the semester where Hardware was to fill every course she anticipated a semester that would be to her a game of course .. enjoying every gate, wire , instruction and datapath not knowing that reality would turn out to be too harsh. She had a shock that she couldn’t see coming her way between a project done with a lousy tool, an unreadable book, a short circuit, exploding pics and a burnt finger she decided that was not her way to go. Again her dream would not come true.
She doesn’t know what she likes or hates anymore … she doesn’t know what she could ace or fail no more.. what can she do in the middle of this big pool of unfinished paths and misinterpreted tools… Can she find a new passion that would sweep her away… will a new dream be built will it run away or will it stay… A question she asks herself everyday … thinking God, there must be a purpose for where I am today… Oh guide me to the truth and guide me to the way to finding my gift in the technology world of today.

I think advertisements can tell a whole a lot about our culture. I mean experts spend time to know what would get people buy their products and feel like they can’t live without them. More dangerous are the thoughts and conceptions these advertisements promote. In particular how they speak to women
Let me give u some examples to make things clearer:

- Use our lotion it will make you fairer (more white ) in just X days … it will guarantee you get the job of your dreams???
- If you use this shampoo your hair will look dazzling your boss will give you the promotion you have been wanting.
-Be more confident by using our dandruff free shampoo

Ammm Excuse me the next time I get a job I would rather get it because I am …. Ammm QUALIFIED. Who said the fairness of my skin , my acne or my hair had anything to do with it ???
I also hope to build my confidence through experience and knowledge not through minty tooth paste, or dandruff free shampoo .

Really what standards are being promoted here ???

Come to think of it … Is this the new trend for women respect, freedom and equality??? I mean does it make sense to say that women only gain respect by complying with the “Barbie Standard”?? Isn’t that a degradation to women ??? Isn’t that oppression ??? Where is the liberty, equality or freedom in that ??

Ahl, It’s amazing how Islam has complied on society to treat women with respect and dignity… to appreciate them for their mind, heart and soul rather than any superficial thing. That is liberty that is how we are FREE.

You know how when we watch movies and someone advises the heroo… “You have to face your problems and fears don’t walk away in the other direction”… I have always thought … sure… yeah that is what u should do face the problem that is ” the right thing to do “.
Coming down to reality …… Amm that is not always that easy….
Why can’t I just run… why can’t I just hide…. why can’t I just pretend nothing is wrong….. why can’t I just not care…. why can’t I turn my back ….. Apparently because its not the right thing to do….
I should always face my problems…I should always conquer my problems…. I should always fight….. I should be strong…. I will not escape my problems… if I do I am escaping my life … I am escaping the experiences life is offering me …. I think our victories and challenges are the things that build our personality that makes us take a step closer to greatness …As they say what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger…. And I can’t deny the ecstatic thrill u get when u actually solve ur problems …
I will stand strong when the wind blows praying God that when the wind is gone I am a survivor and a better person than I was ever before

I remember the Verse from Quran that says:

So I guess that means that hanging in there… in your problems would only come up with something good… no great!

So remeber….. Don’t Run and don’t hide …….
